Fried Wheat Gluten (Seitan) Strips (Vegan) ”芳“皮絲 (全素）
The Fried Wheat Gluten Strips are made of the same ingredients as Seitan. The strips are uneven as they are manually ripped by hand from the dough then fried. It's commonly used to replace meat in Chinese Herb Soup, Stew/Braise, Stir-Fry (Sweet & Sour dishes), Chopped to smaller pieces as the "meat" fillings in Rice Dumplings, braised "meat" sauce, etc.
We would suggest to boil them separately for at least 5-10 minutes before adding them to make your dishes. This way, your dish won't get too oily! The other thing is that if the "wheat" smell is too strong, you can stir fry them with a few slices of ginger first before making your dishes.
